 This year, Cambrian will be providing five awards valued at $2,500 each to support students who are pursuing post-secondary education in the fall and exemplify leadership in one of the following five areas: Arts & culture, Community care, Education, Health & wellness, Member Award. The recipients will be selected by a panel of Cambrian employees.

Students are invited to apply for the Learning for Life Award from now until May 31st. Students may submit a response for up to five of the areas and must demonstrate how they meet the qualifying criteria for each specific area. Students can apply at until May 31, 2022.

 North Kildonan Student Leader Scholarship

North Kildonan City Councillor Jeff Browaty is pleased to offer the North Kildonan Student Leader Scholarship that is available to students graduating in 2022. The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize and reward deserving students who have demonstrated the ability to positively influence their school environment through their leadership in school activities. 

Three scholarships in the amount of $400.00 will be awarded. A minimum of one award will be presented to a graduate from each of the high schools in the ward – River East Collegiate and West Kildonan Collegiate. The third award may be presented to a graduate from a school within the ward or any other public or private high school within the City of Winnipeg. 

Consideration will be given to deserving students who meet the following criteria: 

  • 1. Reside in the North Kildonan Ward in the City of Winnipeg 
  • 2. Graduating in 2022 
  • 3. Plan to pursue studies at the post-secondary level upon graduation 
  • 4. Proven leadership in school activities 
  • 5. Minimum of 75% GPA for the current academic year 
Each nominee must complete the application form and submit it to the office of City Councillor Jeff Browaty in order to be considered. Application forms are available in Student Services at REC. Each application form requires the signature of the school Principal, Vice Principal, Guidance Counsellor, or Resource Teacher in order to verify that the information provided is factual.

 Storwell offers an annual bursary of $2,000 in support of foster children to help them attend post-secondary schools and to offer a hand up as they make their way forward in life.


  • Must have been a foster child with CFS and agrees to having Storwell verify the same.
  • Will be enrolled as a full-time student at a recognized general/vocational College or post-secondary institution in Canada as of September.
  • Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Applicant must be 24 years of age OR LESS at time of application
  • Winner agrees to having his/her name, photo and post-secondary institution displayed on the Storwell website.

The Winnipeg Human Society's 2022 Animal Welfare Scholarship


Founded in 1894, the Winnipeg Humane Society is one of Canada’s oldest and well-known animal welfare organizations. Each year we rescue, care for, medically treat and adopt over 10,000 animals in need. We are also one of the only Canadian SPCAs that educates Canadians on key animal welfare issues while also lobbying for the legislative change. A key part of our work involves inspiring youth and young adults to become active in making this world a kinder place for animals. As such, we are excited to launch a new scholarship opportunity, consisting of two honorariums in total, for June 2022.

One individual from each category (Indigenous applicants and non-Indigenous applicants) will receive $1,500 respectively, for the purpose of furthering their education or associated projects related to animal welfare.

Eligibility Criteria:

· All individuals aged between 15-18 years, and who demonstrate an outstanding effort in improving the welfare of non-companion animals, are encouraged to apply. This can include, but is not limited to: pursuing a secondary education relating to animal welfare, developing a community project that improves animal welfare and/or the environment, advocacy efforts towards key issue(s) affecting animals and/or the environment, and more.

· Applicants must be a resident of Manitoba, Canada.

· Applicants must not be a previous winner of this scholarship.

· Two references (non-family or friend) must be provided in the submission.

· A written submission (between 300-600 words) that outlines the applicant’s efforts in improving non-companion animal welfare, and how the funds will benefit the applicant if chosen. Please state in your submission which category you are applying under (Indigenous or non-Indigenous category).

· Agree to a subsequent follow-up to demonstrate how funds were utilized.

Manitoba Young Liberals Scholarship


The Manitoba Young Liberal Scholarships are open to youth aged 16 to 25 who are entering, or are currently enrolled in, a Manitoba post-secondary institution.


1. A completed application form

2. A written essay

  • The essay should discuss the applicant’s vision for the future of Manitoba, and answer the question, “If you were elected Premier of Manitoba, what would you do?”
  • Additional essay requirements: 1000 word maximum, word processed, double spaced, 12-point font (Arial or Times New Roman)


  • Three (3) scholarships each worth $500


  • One $500 scholarship will be awarded to a student from Winnipeg
  • One $500 scholarship will be awarded to a student from outside of Winnipeg
  • One additional $500 scholarship will be awarded to an Indigenous student or to a student who immigrated to Canada in the last 5 years, who is from Winnipeg or outside of Winnipeg
  • Winners will be announced in June, 2022. Winners must agree to have their photo taken with the certificate and allow this picture to be published, both printed and electronically.

The Business Council of Manitoba is committed to helping Indigenous students attend university or community college. We believe that education is an important component in their personal development and greatly improves their opportunities. We are gratified with the success of this initiative.

Since the program was launched in 2001, in partnership with the governments of Manitoba and Canada more than 2400 awards with a total of $6,000,000 have been presented. We are impressed by the quality of applicants, whose academic interests span the entire range of what our post secondary institutions offer. Almost all our recipients are graduating and finding work in their chosen fields of business administration, medicine, dentistry, social work, education, engineering, physiotherapy, Indigenous self governance and many more.

Every recognized post-secondary institution in this province РAssiniboine Community College, Booth University College, Brandon University, Canadian Mennonite University, Providence University College, Red River College, Steinbach Bible College, University College of the North, University of Manitoba, University of Winnipeg, Universit̩ de Saint-Boniface and Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology Рhas been fully supportive of this program and integral to its continued success.

The cooperation that has characterized this initiative, including governments, business leaders, The Winnipeg Foundation, post secondary institutions and their administrators, and Indigenous organizations, is a model of community collaboration, bound together by a belief in the talent, energy and potential of our Indigenous young people. The Business Council of Manitoba is proud of what this program has done and is committed to building on its success so that more and more Indigenous young people can take full advantage of what Manitoba’s fine post secondary sector can offer. If you are of Indigenous ancestry you are eligible to apply for a Business Council of Manitoba Indigenous Education Award provided you meet the following criteria;

  • You are a citizen of Canada and permanent resident of Manitoba, having resided in Manitoba for the last 12 months
  • You plan to enrol in one of the recognized and authorized Manitoba post-secondary institutions in the upcoming academic year, in any discipline (trades, business, general studies, science, etc.)
  • You maintain fulltime status (at least a 60% course load).
  • You are in need of financial assistance.

If you are receiving funding from other sources, you may still apply for this award to cover additional costs.


If you are eligible to apply for a Business Council of Manitoba Indigenous Education Award for your next year of study, please complete an application form and submit it to the financial services office at the post-secondary institution you will be attending.

  • a photocopy of Treaty or Metis Card
  • a résume
  • a copy of your most recent transcript or academic history
  • two copies of a short essay, one in your own handwriting and one typed (see application for details)

UNITED WAY - Youth Leaders in Action Scholarship

The purpose of the United Way Youth Leaders in Action Scholarship is to celebrate the contributions of young community leaders who have made a difference in the lives of others. Four awards of $500 are granted each year. Recipients will be students who are connected with United Way-funded organizations as participants, volunteers, or staff members.
